Our Product MECT phantom (PH-75) is now published on "AAPM TG299" !!
We are thrilled to announce that our product, MECT Phantom (PH-75), has officially been published on AAPM TG299 AAPM !!
What is an AAPM TG？ ”AAPM is a scientific and professional organization, founded in 1958, composed of more than 8000 scientists whose clinical practice is dedicated to ensuring accuracy, safety and quality in the use of radiation in medical procedures such as medical imaging and radiation therapy. We are generally known as medical physicists and are uniquely positioned across medical specialties due to our responsibility to connect the physician to the patient through the use of radiation producing technology in both diagnosing and treating people." KyotoKagaku offers MECT phantoms in two deifferent body size (PH-75B TR-I and PH-75A TR-J)
Model TR-I measures 36.3cm wide by 26.2cm high and model TR-J measures 30cm wide by 20cm high.
Both phantoms are 18cm deep with insert that span the length of the phantom. the phantom background onsists of water-equivalent Aqua Slab material.
The removable small head insert is 16cm in diameter, an d all eight insert positions are located in this head portion. The insert measures 2cm in diameter and 18cm in length. Smaller holes that fit a 100-mm pencil ionization chamber are located at the 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-o'clock positions in both the head and body phantoms; these are used for dosimetry measurements.
The standard configuaration includes the following inserts;
1. Eught water-equivalent material inserts
2. One titanium insert
3. One soft tissue-equivalent (liver tissue-equivalent) insert
4. Eleven iodine inserts (0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15 mg iodine/mL)
5. Eight calcium inserts (5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 150,200, 300 mg calcium/mG)
6. One fillable insert for water
7. 20 spacers with fillable plastic bottles

We exhibited SDMS Annual Conference held in-person October 14 - 16, 2021 in Denver, CO.
The event was held under Covid-19 restrictions, but there were more participants than expected.

PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE UCE-JICA-KYOTO KAGAKU SDGs PROJECT IN ECUADOR
June 10, 2021, the first press conference was held on the arrival of the first delivery of the Kyoto Kagaku simulators at the Central University of Ecuador as part of the UCE-JICA-KYOTO project.
A press conference was held to show the first models that arrived at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Central University.
After the presentation, the attendees had the opportunity to feel and test with their own hands the quality and realism of the Kyoto Kagaku Simulators, such as the Cardiology Patient K Ver.2, the lung sounds trainer LSAT Ver.2, and the Lumbar Puncture Simulator among others.
With a participation of around 30 attendees, limited by social distancing in pandemic times, the event was covered by a prestigious television station that broadcast the event.
With the arrival of this first group of simulators, preparations will begin for the creation of the first scenarios, while a second shipment with the rest of the simulators is being prepared to be shipped soon.
We are very grateful to all the participants who, with their hard work, keep this project in continuous progress.

Antenatal ultrasound training in the Republic of Kenya
Our users used US-7a Fetus Ultrasound Examination Phantom "SPACE FAN-ST" and a US-10 Female Pelvic Ultrasound Phantom for Gynecology to provide antenatal ultrasound training to obstetricians and gynecologists in hospitals and users' training centers in the Republic of Kenya from September 18-22, 2023.
This seminar was part of ultrasound training offered by the users in Africa, providing hands-on training to obstetricians and gynecologists to train instructors in point-of-care ultrasound of pregnant and nursing women.
Participants were highly satisfied with the very comprehensive training. They also commented that it was very good that they were able to practice repetitively using a phantom. Especially US-10 Female Pelvic Ultrasound Phantom received favorable reviews because it is not easy for users to find volunteers to practice transvaginal ultrasound probe.

Kyoto Kagaku Europe participated at ECR 2022 (13th - 17th of July) in Vienna, Austria.
Even though there were less people attending the congress than last time, our booth was attracting a lot of attention. Especially our ultrasound phantoms were very popular among the participants and many people came to test out our products to practice their knowledge and skill. This year's ECR was a huge success for us!
Kyoto Kagaku participated at AMEE 2022 in Lyon, France.
Especially our fetus ultrasound examination phantom “SPACE FAN-ST” and M43B lumbar puncture simulator were extremely popular among the participants and many students and trainees put their knowledge and skills to the test.
The new pressure sores simulator has also attracted a lot of attention and the visitors were impressed by the realness of the simulation.
Kyoto Kagaku Europe participated in Ultraschallkongresses 2022 in Zurich, Switzerland.
Some of our unique ultrasound phantoms, especially US-1B Ultrasound Examination Training Phantom“ABDFAN” and US-6 Breast Ultrasound Examination Phantom "BREAST FAN", were extremely popular among the students, their professors and doctors, who visited the Congress.
The students appreciated the chance to practice their skills and see the pathologies, and the professionals were impressed by the image quality and realisticity of the phantoms.
Kyoto Kagaku together with one of our local distributors took part in SofraSimS - congress from Société Francophone de Simulation en Santé.
A lot of products, like our US-9 Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy Phantom or M93C CVC Insertion Simulator III, cought the eye of the visitors.
We are hoping for a bright future of Kyoto Kagaku products in the French market.
Kyoto Kagaku Europe took part in SESAM, one of the biggest and most important exhibitions for simulators.
We had a chance to welcome more than 200 visitors at our booth. Many of the guests expressed their interest in acquiring our products.

Exhibition in Scandinavia
Kyoto Kagaku took part in an exhibition for radiologists and nuclear medicine physicists in Scandinavia.
Together with one of our local distributors we displayed our bestsellers, such as PBU-60 CT Whole Body Phantom or PH-1 Multipurpose Chest Phantom “Lungman”
Some participants were already familiar with these phantoms from their university days.
We see this as proof of Kyoto Kagaku´s popularity with customers across Scandinavia.
In May this year we participated in an exhibition held in Africa.
Our simulators and ultrasound phantoms caught the eye of the visitors. Many large-scale projects are going to be supplied with Kyoto Kagaku products in Africa, and we are convinced that there will be great demand in the future.

Road Show in Europe
In February and March we had the pleasure to help one of our partners conduct a series of presentations of Kyoto Kagaku phantoms for Ultrasound, X-ray and computer tomography.
Our partner visited more than 7 universities all over the country in 2 weeks.
Kyoto Kagaku phantoms are known and appreciated by specialists in the world for their high quality, performance and functionality. One of the participants ordered our products immediately after the demonstration.

We have launched M55C "Physiko Plus" in Europe - a very useful educational product to acquire basic physical assessment skills, that already HAS A CE CERTIFICATE.
The new version of our longtime bestseller has 4 learning modes.
1) Mode 1: Scenario Training Mode with 12 pre-installed patient cases
2) Mode 2: Patient Case Editor, where users can create new patiens
3) Skills Training Mode: Individual Assessment skills training, where users can train indispensable evaluation methods

PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE UCE-JICA-KYOTO KAGAKU SDGs PROJECT IN ECUADOR
June 10, 2021, the first press conference was held on the arrival of the first delivery of the Kyoto Kagaku simulators at the Central University of Ecuador as part of the UCE-JICA-KYOTO project.
A press conference was held to show the first models that arrived at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Central University.
After the presentation, the attendees had the opportunity to feel and test with their own hands the quality and realism of the Kyoto Kagaku Simulators, such as the Cardiology Patient K Ver.2, the lung sounds trainer LSAT Ver.2, and the Lumbar Puncture Simulator among others.
With a participation of around 30 attendees, limited by social distancing in pandemic times, the event was covered by a prestigious television station that broadcast the event.
With the arrival of this first group of simulators, preparations will begin for the creation of the first scenarios, while a second shipment with the rest of the simulators is being prepared to be shipped soon.
We are very grateful to all the participants who, with their hard work, keep this project in continuous progress.

We are thrilled to announce that our product, MECT Phantom (PH-75), has officially been published on AAPM TG299 AAPM !!
What is an AAPM TG？ ”AAPM is a scientific and professional organization, founded in 1958, composed of more than 8000 scientists whose clinical practice is dedicated to ensuring accuracy, safety and quality in the use of radiation in medical procedures such as medical imaging and radiation therapy. We are generally known as medical physicists and are uniquely positioned across medical specialties due to our responsibility to connect the physician to the patient through the use of radiation producing technology in both diagnosing and treating people." KyotoKagaku offers MECT phantoms in two deifferent body size (PH-75B TR-I and PH-75A TR-J)
Model TR-I measures 36.3cm wide by 26.2cm high and model TR-J measures 30cm wide by 20cm high.
Both phantoms are 18cm deep with insert that span the length of the phantom. the phantom background onsists of water-equivalent Aqua Slab material.
The removable small head insert is 16cm in diameter, an d all eight insert positions are located in this head portion. The insert measures 2cm in diameter and 18cm in length. Smaller holes that fit a 100-mm pencil ionization chamber are located at the 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-o'clock positions in both the head and body phantoms; these are used for dosimetry measurements.
The standard configuaration includes the following inserts;
1. Eught water-equivalent material inserts
2. One titanium insert
3. One soft tissue-equivalent (liver tissue-equivalent) insert
4. Eleven iodine inserts (0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 15 mg iodine/mL)
5. Eight calcium inserts (5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 150,200, 300 mg calcium/mG)
6. One fillable insert for water
7. 20 spacers with fillable plastic bottles

ObyGrind Association Workshop by MUCMSS, MMA, OGSM & TUSS on 26th October 2024
The ObyGrind Association Workshop, held on October 26, 2024, at Manipal University College Malaysia in Malacca,
was a collaboration between the Manipal University College Malaysia Surgical Society (MUCMSS), Malaysian Medical Association (MMA),
Malacca Branch, Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (OGSM), and Taylors University Surgical Society (TUSS).
The event, attended by 90 participants, offered a hands-on learning experience in ultrasonography and obstetric care.
Using the Kyoto Kagaku US-10A Female Pelvic Ultrasound Phantom,
participants practiced scanning for first-trimester pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, and pathological.
The workshop allowed attendees to practice transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound techniques,
which were useful for both students and graduates preparing for housemanship training.
The participants praised the realistic imaging and user-friendly design of the phantom,
which helped both beginners and more experienced learners improve their ultrasound skills.
The workshop was seen as a valuable opportunity for developing essential diagnostic abilities in a clinical setting.
From 15 May to 12 June, the Singapore Institute of Technology SIT used our pediatric ultrasound phantoms to conduct clinical training for the postgraduate sonography programme.
Some feedback we received:
US-14a Ultrasound Neonatal Head Phantom (Normal type)
- The neonatal head phantom is helpful in demonstrating scan protocol and location of important brain structures.
-The physical appearance of hydrocephalus in the phantom is very helpful in showing students what a patient with suspected hydrocephalus might look like.
US-13 Infant Hip Sonography Training Phantom
- The simulator is intuitive, user-friendly, and easy to navigate.
It effectively helps students visualize anatomical structures and become familiar with scanning methods and protocols.
It provides a safe environment for students to make mistakes and learn the protocol before putting their probes on patients in the real clinical setting.
US-8 Pediatric FAST/Acute Abdomen Phantom
- The equipment/simulator facilitates the learning of the bowel anatomy. It closely simulates human tissue and ultrasound imaging characteristics of the patient.
- It allows users to become familiar with key anatomy and relevant pathologies before performing scans on actual patients.
This safe environment allows users to make mistakes while learning, boosts confidence and proficiency during clinical sessions and ultimately enhances patient comfort and reduces waiting time.
The SIT trainer is conducting a demonstration with the use of the Kyoto Phantom to the participants.

Vascular Access Workshop at Hospital Sultan Idris Shah Serdang on 16th January 2024
The Vascular Access workshop was conducted on 16 January 2024 and was organized by the Nephrology Department Hospital Sultan Idris Shah Serdang.
The workshop aims to enhance knowledge and skills on catheter insertion for healthcare providers' especially medical officer.
A total of 50 participants attended the workshop.
The workshop incorporated a variety of interactive activities which consists of theorical and skill sessions.
These activities included case-based discussion and hands on practice.
This course also emphasizes ultrasound-guided vascular access and was conducted using Kyoto Kagaku M93UB CVC insertion simulator II, which helped in learning the cannulation.
The feedback collected indicated a high level of satisfaction.
Kyoto Kagaku M93UB CVC insertion simulator II features clinically relevant landmarks and anatomy.
This simulator includes accurate internal and external landmarks that are visible under ultrasound and learners can practice performing full venous catheterization using ultrasound guided.

Citizens Association for Nepal Exchange Maternal and Child Health Project
From July to December 2023, as part of a JICA partnership program by Citizens Association for Nepal Exchange (Komagane City, Nagano), with cooperation of Nanohana Maternity Clinic (Ina City, Nagano Prefecture), our Vital Signs Baby (M58) and Postpartum Uterine Palpation Simulator (MW38) were used in "Continuum of Care by utilizing Maternal and Child Health Handbook" for midwives and nurses in Pokhara City Nepal.
The online training was held very interactive way. Local participants commented that having the same simulators models both Japan and Nepal helped them understand better, and that the realistic practices with these simulators helped them improve their skills.

Meet KYOTO KAGAKU at RSNA 2023 -Radiological Society of North America-
We are happy to announce that Kyoto Kagaku will be exhibiting at RSNA2023 (Radiological Society of North America) in Chicago, USA from November 26th to 29th!
We will present you a variety of products from our phantom product range for both ultrasound and radiology, with the main focus on our new models:

On October 28th, 2023, a training session took place at the College of Nursing, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.
Dr. Tsetsegmaa Parchaa, head of the Department of Midwifery and Maternal-Child Nursing, conducted fetal echo training as a part of post-graduate education program for midwives and graduate students. A SPACEFAN-ST, which was borrowed from the JICA Mongolia office, was used along with the ultrasound devices for educational purposes. Dr. Tsetsegmaa gave us a positive feedback, stating that SPACEFAN-ST produces very close to the actual images of fetus. The participants were very excited about this device and been grateful for support provided to Mongolian nursing education by Japanese people through JICA.
Professor Arai of University of Shizuoka School of Nursing had given a simulation lesson at Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
The School of Nursing, University of Shizuoka and College of Nursing, Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MNUMS) have established and academic collaborative agreement on October 26, 2023. As a part of international collaboration, on October 28, 2023, Professor Arai and Professor Takekuma, University of Shizuoka gave lectures for nursing students at MNUMS.
Professor Arai gave a lecture to 20 students in the second-and third year nursing program on urinary catheterization procedure with a simulator, MW55 male-female urinary drainage and enema model manufactured by Kyoto Kagaku.
Professor Takekuma delivered a lecture titled “On Leadership” to 18 graduate students and clinical nurses.
Positive feedback on these lectures were given by the participants;
- With the model close to the real human labia minora, I could have a realistic practice on the fundamental nursing skills.
- When I had participated in an undergraduate nursing skills class for catheterization Nursing procedure, I had no intention to locate the urethral opening for the meatus of the model used at that time because it was already wide open. However, in real clinical practice, I had a difficulty with finding an urethral opening with patients. Now, I understand how to find the urethral opening with this model (urinary drainage and enema model (MW55)) for this time.
Many constructive feedback and comments were provided by students and faculty members.
Labour Room Management Course at Kulim Hospital on 22nd October 2023
Did you know that in 2020 as many as 800 pregnant women died due to preventable causes?
Among the ways to prevent the death of pregnant women is to train health workers to handle births efficiently and safely.
To achieve this goal, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Kulim Hospital had organized a Labour Room Management Course on 22nd October 2023.
The organizers are very pleased to receive support from Leeds Dynamic, who contributed Kyoto Kagaku simulators, to enable this program to be run successfully.
A total of 33 participants from Kulim Hospital, Baling Hospital and health clinics around Kulim district have participated in this program.
A total of 7 theory slots and 2 practical sessions (hands-on sessions) have been run throughout the program.
Participants were exposed to a range of basic knowledge and safe birth control skills through both sessions.
The organizers hope that the participants can now handle births safely in their respective facilities.

US-5 FAST/ER FAN's quality performance during SIT Workshops (8th Feb -10th Apr 2023)
The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) conducted a series of workshops for clinical training of FAST ((Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma) in small group settings from 8th Feb to 10th Apr 2023.
The participants consisted of Accident and Emergency physicians, General Practitioners, SIT teaching faculty and Allied health professionals (sonographers and radiographers). Kyoto Kagaku US-5 FAST/Acute Abdomen Phantom "FAST/ER FAN" was used to supplement the clinical teaching/training of FAST during the workshops.
All the participants were very satisfied with the excellent ultrasound image quality and sent us great valuable feedback and suggestions of their experience with phantom.
Feedback received by satisfied participants:
1.Ease of use:
The simulator is intuitive, user friendly and easy to navigate. The transparent materials have external visibility, allowing the novice user to easily visualize the location of the internal organs and validate /confirm the ultrasound images with the naked eye. In addition, we can easily integrate the training using the phantom in our setting, using our existing ultrasound machines (unlike other simulators which required a bulky ‘’dummy’’ machine to be attached to the simulator).
2.Realistic imaging:
The simulator produces images that are realistic and accurate; closely mimic the quality of actual ultrasound images.
3.Learning experience of learners:
The Kyoto Kagaku simulator allows learners to learn the core scanning skills in FAST and develop their technical proficiency, get familiar with the core anatomy and relevant pathologies prior to scanning on the patient during the actual clinical session. This will reduce their initial scanning time on patients, which in turn, increases patients’ comfort and reduce their waiting time in the trauma setting (which is very crucial). It allows learners to develop confidence and proficiency in a safe environment prior to actual clinical practice on patients. Also, the phantom is very practical and useful to facilitate training of novice users, especially in image acquisition and pathology recognition.

Basic Ultrasound Workshop by Hospital Melaka on 26th -27th August 2022
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Hospital Melaka conducted a 2 days Basic Ultrasound Workshop on 26th -27th August 2022.
The participants are among all the doctors from Melaka state hospitals (Melaka General Hospital, Hospital Jasin, Hospital Alor Gajah) and government health clinics.
The purpose of this workshop is to guide the participants how to perform transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasound scanning so that correct diagnosis can be made.
Kyoto Kagaku US-10 Female Pelvic Ultrasound Phantom (ectopic pregnancy and pathological unit) was used during the workshop.
All the participants were very satisfied with the excellent ultrasound image quality, the ectopic pregnancy, ovarian cyst, fibroid, and other pathologies images are very lifelike.
Obstetrics Live Saving Skills Course at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu in July 2022
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia ran an Obstetrics Live Saving Skills workshop on the 3rd & 4th of July and again on the 17th &18th of July, attended by house officers, medical officers, and midwives.
The workshop was conducted with Kyoto Kagaku MW48 Full Perinatal Patient Care Simulator “Hana” and Kyoto Kagaku MW36 Vaginal Delivery Assistance Simulator.
All the participants and trainers provided positive feedback regarding the skin of the simulator that was realistic and very lifelike.
The models were extremely versatile and allowed multiple scenarios to be carried out.
The material used for the perineum was also very durable and participants were able to manage instrumental deliveries without causing any damage to the simulator.
In summary, 10 scenarios were simulated using the Kyoto Kagaku simulators and participants had the opportunity to manage these clinical cases with the help of the models.
This was overall a fantastic experience for everyone involved to train and learn in Obstetrics.
IJC Insertion Workshop by Hospital Sultan Abdul Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh on 16th July 2022
The Nephrology Unit of Hospital Sultan Abdul Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh, Malaysia had conducted Internal Jugular Catheter Insertion Workshop involving medical officers and house officers on 16 July 2022.
The workshop was conducted using Kyoto Kagaku M93UB CVC Insertion Simulator II, which had greatly helped in learning the cannulation of needle to IJV, as well as the hand-eye coordination with the use of the USG machine.
All the participants provided feedback that the simulator had skin-like feel, and the caliber of the artery and vein appeared like real vessels.
Kyoto Kagaku ultrasound training block was also used as a learning aid for cannulation.
Procedure for Bronchoscopy Workshop by Emergency Department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur in May 2022
Emergency department of Hospital Kuala Lumpur had a mini training session among all the specialist to familiar with the procedure of Bronchoscopy in May 2022.
Kyoto Kagaku MW13 Difficult Airway Management Simulator with Bronchofiberscopy training unit were used at this training session.
Multipurpose Chest Phantom N1 "LUNGMAN"is published on academic journal--Investigative Radiology！
Radiomics can yield minable information from medical images, which can facilitate computer-aided diagnosis. However, the lack of repeatability and reproducibility of radiomic features (RFs) may hinder their generalizability in clinical applications.
In order to explore 3 main sources of variability in RFs, investigate their influencing magnitudes and patterns, and identify a subset of robust RFs for further studies,researchers led by Dr. Peng Xueqing from the Institutes of Biomedical Sciences, Fudan University , Dr. Yang Shuyi from the Department of Radiology, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, and Dr. Zhou Lingxiao from the Institute of Microscale Optoelectronics, Shenzhen University, used our N1 "LUNGMAN" to take CT pictures and did a series of studies for comparison.
As a result of their efforts, they reached valid conclusions--The stability of RFs was affected to different degrees by test-retest and differences in CT manufacturers and models and CT acquisition and reconstruction parameters, but the influences of these factors showed relatively consistent patterns-- and published their findings in the academic journal Investigative Radiology.

Delivery of MW11 Difficult Airway Simulator -Assessment System- to Bhutan
As part of Japanese government project organized by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), our MW11 Difficult Airway Simulator -Assessment System-, along with four other task trainers, had been delivered to Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan(KGUMSB) in January, 2022. Kyoto Kagaku would like to thank JICA and KGUMSB for choosing our products.

We warmly thank Dr. Shu-Chen Liao, Dr. Meng-Yu Wu and Dr. Yu-Che Chang for using our MW11 Difficult Airway Management Simulator to do the study and publish the results on PLOS ONE.

PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE UCE-JICA-KYOTO KAGAKU SDGs PROJECT IN ECUADOR
June 10, 2021, the first press conference was held on the arrival of the first delivery of the Kyoto Kagaku simulators at the Central University of Ecuador as part of the UCE-JICA-KYOTO project.
A press conference was held to show the first models that arrived at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Central University.
After the presentation, the attendees had the opportunity to feel and test with their own hands the quality and realism of the Kyoto Kagaku Simulators, such as the Cardiology Patient K Ver.2, the lung sounds trainer LSAT Ver.2, and the Lumbar Puncture Simulator among others.
With a participation of around 30 attendees, limited by social distancing in pandemic times, the event was covered by a prestigious television station that broadcast the event.
With the arrival of this first group of simulators, preparations will begin for the creation of the first scenarios, while a second shipment with the rest of the simulators is being prepared to be shipped soon.
We are very grateful to all the participants who, with their hard work, keep this project in continuous progress.
